Aerial Views: St. Ignace to Mackinac Island

Our two-year-old fell asleep on the drive to the St. Ignace airport. She slept through the flight. And the carriage ride home. This never would have been possible with her sister at this age. Funny how different children can be!

Over I-75:

Lots of trees in St. Ignace:

The Pond Hockey tournament had to be moved for this weekend. It is usually played on the harbor, but Lake Huron just isn't freezing this winter.

My husband had a better view of the pond hockey rinks:

Above St. Ignace streets:

The white rectangle is the runway on Mackinac Island. It looks like a large portion of the island from above!

I always take a bajillion shots of the Mackinac Bridge...

Over Mackinac Island:

I can't imagine we could possibly get an ice bridge this year:

It was a full carriage! My preschooler entertained some visitors headed to the Village Inn for dinner. I wasn't the only one trying to snap a picture of the Grand Hotel:

Once her audience was gone, my oldest was antsy. Nothing like taking her picture to keep her happy!

  2. Love the pics of the Grand Hotel! Beautiful! You know, I never knew there was an airstrip on the island until I started reading your blog!

    1. Isn't that funny? I never saw it until I had to use it (and I'd worked here two summers by that point!). From above, the airstrip looks so significant!
