Mackinac Island Sunrise

I ran outside this morning to catch the sunrise. The sky was announcing it was going to be a good one (and it didn't false advertise!)

Footprints headed toward the ice:

The sunrise occurred at 7:52 am this morning!

God spoils us with glorious beauty!

Another person was taking pictures too. They were out on the ice and likely had an actual camera (my pics are all taken with my iPhone). I'd love to see their shots! Here their snowmobile is directly beneath the sun:

Small Point and Robinson's Folly:

The Mackinac Straits lighthouse:

The Coast Guard was scheduled to cut the ice between the island and St. Ignace today. I didn't see it myself, but I did hear a ship's horn this afternoon- a sound we haven't heard a whole lot of recently. I'm curious how close we are to ferry service!

  1. These pictures are beautiful iphone or not. Especially loved the one of Small Point. We stay there every summer. It is great to see a winter picture of it.

    1. Thank you! I love the east end of the island too! I'm content to photoblog with my iPhone- it's so easy to take, edit, and post to my blog!
