Changing Skies

MAN CHANGING THE SKYLINE

The Mission House has a new roof and appears to be getting new siding!

WHEN I CHANGE THE SKIES

The before and after photos with my photo editing:

THE MASTER OF THE SKIES

Last night was cool enough to cause ice- this was clear yesterday:

Nehemiah 9:6 "You alone are the LORD. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you."

My husband caught some lovely photos of tonight's sunset:

And just for fun:

6 more Weeks of Winter?

Groundhog saw his shadow = Six more weeks of winter. Except it has hardly been winter! It's mild enough that my preschooler can push our hefty double stroller.

(Granted, her sister wasn't in it. But still... See how much road is visible?)

A frozen horseshoe print. Yesterday was warm and slushy, today it was colder- so everything was frozen.

There was a line of birds perched on the roof of St. Anne's:

Hi, Mom! (Creative use of our stroller's "sunroof?")

Progress on the Bicycle Inn:

A lot less ice:

Straits are clear! Would ferries ever start running again when they've quit?

Phil was sick today, so I made him toast for lunch. While I delivered it she decided to spread some butter- she was buttering the plate, so I gave her a piece of bread:

She was so cute:

She had pulled the chair to the counter herself:

Since Daddy was home sick, my little one stayed home to watch Beauty & the Beast while I walked to retrieve big sister. We walked. She posed.

This is "The Little Mermaid" pose that she insisted we get a picture of.

We stopped a lot. At this point I had a backpack full of groceries from Doud's and my own library card (can't believe I hadn't done that yet...)

A pretty bird:

I edited it to show off the silhouette:

Freighters passed a couple of times today- I tried to get a shot, but it was too dark, thus the grainy over-editing.

After dinner, we worked on our cardboard sleds. The girls are so excited!

Their art medium:

I don't know what this face is about...

She picked out special "muffins" when we were grocery shopping:

Yum!

Robinson's Folly

You know the tummy trouble bug that seems active all over Michigan? Today was my turn. Phil wasn't free to give our daughter a ride to preschool (and there was no way I was going to make it on foot). Unfortunately, my healthy preschooler missed school today as a result. I never left the apartment, so today's picture is compliments of my husband. This is a wintery Robinson's Folly (the gothic style building is Small Point):

It should be a short-lived bug, so I hope to accomplish more tomorrow!

Here are a couple of links to story variations on how Robinson's Folly got its name:

January's End

Parent/Teacher Conferences are this week for preschool. We signed up for today, so Phil took us by snowmobile. I have an awfully cute daughter to share the sled with!

A canine friend raced us to the school:

Lots of snowmobiles parked near the school:

The sun was cool!

Our snowmobile (we got some groceries at Doud's):

Arnold Line Dock- no longer in use this winter (unfortunately):

Looking up at Daddy (whom she refers to as "Pop-Pop", her variation on big sister's "Papa"):

Looking up on the ride:

Home!

I give myself almost an hour to walk to school to fetch my own little student (who is doing well, according to her teacher!) It's hard to know how difficult it's going to be to push the double stroller. We live over a mile from school- I walk over 5 miles a day getting my daughter to preschool. I appreciated the ride in this morning! I look forward to our snowmobile's steering getting fixed so I can turn it again!
The birds were out and active today. I really enjoyed their twittering:

We arrived at the school 20 minutes early. My two year old was napping, so I played Sudoku on my phone while I waited. It was not cold today- which was nice.

Winter Festival Flyers! This was so much fun last year- we will be making two cardboard sleds this year! (Decorate more than "make" really). My girls will be participating in this:

This girl will not be participating in this (looks fun though):
