Crayfish & Clay

It's the weekend, so we're enjoying Cedarville again! Why is it named Cedarville?
Lots of lovely cedar trees, of course!

The girls caught a crayfish with Gramma this afternoon!

It's little but fascinating!

My oldest requested I get a picture of her touching it. Turns out to be a tricky moment to catch, but here are a couple shots:

After dinner, we returned the crayfish to its home on the shores of Lake Huron. A quick picture with their friend before releasing it:

She freed the crayfish herself:

Back where it belongs! (It's tiny and scurrying under the stone in the middle.)

Saying goodbye:

Discovering clay! One of the absolute coolest things about Lake Huron is finding a deposit of clay!

It's like Play-Doh! (I think it's cooler)

Messy hands!

A deer print in the clay:

My favorite firstborn!

We tried to get a silhouette picture of her throwing a rock in the water and got it first try! We both think it's a cool picture!

Little sister played in the grass:

Standing on a big rock makes for an extra long shadow:

The seagulls are back, another sign of spring:

Where's little sister? (I removed all sorts of nature from her curls tonight!)

St. Ignace Home Show

Today we left the island aboard Arnold Line's catamaran, or as one friend titled it- the fastamaran! After months of the slow boat... Er, the Huron, it felt oddly fast. We arrived in St. Ignace about half an hour sooner than we normally have.

My youngest had to pause and wave at the dray horses! (For someone who has spent time on Mackinac Island since before birth, she still gets excited about seeing bikes, horses, and proclaims "ew gross" when we pass certain spots in the road.)

We headed to the Spring Expo at the Little Bear East in St. Ignace.

This year, there's no entrance fee! There were plenty of booths to check out, drawings to enter, and yummy smells.

The girls especially enjoyed the bouncy castle!

Even though it's blurry, I like this shot! She's good on her feet!

"Playing" arcade games. I wonder how long this will last before coins necessitate fun? Drive carefully!

Focused little girls:

Jumping together:

We bought cotton candy made from maple syrup. I'm not sure how many years I have partaken in this treat, but I don't mind continuing to do so! Besteman's is good! http://www.mi-maplesyrup.com/about/profiles/besteman_05.html

My oldest visited the booth for Lindsey Vork Photography :) www.vorkphotography.com (She already had visited the sheriff's booth as evidenced by the sticker badge.)

We admired the sky before we pulled out of the parking lot:

Wow!

And we visited McDonald's... My hubby insisted the strawberry cream pies were good and that I should try one. He was right.

The Spring Expo has another day, so drop by the Little Bear if you're in the St. Ignace area! It's open from 10am - 6pm.

If you get a pulled pork sandwich- don't forget to grab a fork! (They are great, and you will need it.)

Photos while Biking

A large portion of the photos I post are taken while riding my Schwinn. I am blessed with an iPhone and that makes my photography-while-biking possible!

Here are a few shots from this week taken while biking to/from school.

Self Portrait of sorts:

Fabulous sky from earlier this week:

Yesterday's sparkling water:

As the season picks up, I will not be able to take as many pictures while biking (downtown in particular). At least not safely! So I'm savoring it for now!
