My Girls!

Today was full of some of my favorite girls in the world! My daughters enjoy playing with toys at Grammy's. These figures were my sister's and mine once upon a time. It's kind of crazy to see your children play with your childhood toys. Turns out the bride figures are still the clear favorites!

Mom pulled out a bag of hair things that were my sister's and mine too. Woa! The girls love them and had to have multiple bows in. These are totally from my 90s childhood.

My favorite niece came for the afternoon! She is 9 months old and adorable. My girls adore her (although my toddler has no qualms snatching her toys, sigh.)

Look at the sweet baby hair!

And the cute baby face!

I tried to get a shot of us together, but I didn't catch her looking in the mirror.

I love baby cheeks.

And, of course, her smile!

My parents' tree is still up. They always get huge ones. This one is chubby and still lovely. (This is my only pic not involving a girl, although my sister-in-law did pick it out...)

My sister spent the day with me and my girls! She made us bagel pizzas and had Kaya help with dessert: pudding! Kaya loves to cook.

My first best friend and my firstborn cooking together:

Banana pudding!

My proud little cook "giving you a cheese" aka posing kindly for me.

My girls! I love them tons!

Winter Fun at my Folks House

This week I get to enjoy being on the mainland at my parents' home! I love Mackinac, but it is so nice to be where I grew up... and especially great to be with my family!
Today we bundled up and enjoyed the snow on my hometown of Whitehall, MI. I've tried to outsmart the one photo limit/glitch of my phone's blogging app and made a collage of our fun! The girls enjoyed the swing set, snow angels, and hot cocoa when we finished!

Family Gathering

The stomach flu kept the extended family from gathering at Grandma's on Christmas. So, we had a second try tonight and it was great to be together (and of course the food was great too!). The bug skipped my immediate family. Phew! Bummed that so many of my aunts, uncles, and cousins were not as fortunate in Christmastime. Hope you all avoided illness!
Family gatherings mean babies! There were lots of precious babies to adore. (There were four under the age of one!) Today's photo is of my niece and my cousin's son. They are only two weeks apart and had each other's attention!

Snow on New Years Day!

We got lots of snow today! We bundled up and played outside. My youngest has deemed snow "delicious" and is catching it in her mouth in the photo. My older daughter built a snow fort with her Auntie (whose birthday is New Year's!)
My blogging app still hasn't been fixed so I'm only able to do one picture from my phone. :( But I've resolved to post one photo a day so you'll be hearing more from me!
Happy New Year to all! Enjoy the snow! (Mackinac Islanders are thrilled to snowmobile finally!)

My blog will be back

My blog will return! Sorry it's been silent so long. I am waiting for an update, it isn't letting me insert pictures within the blog. (And I like using pictures in my photo blog.)
I've done lots of neat things: running the Great Turtle Race, lots of exploring on Mackinac Island, and plenty of pictures of course! MackinacMommy is active on twitter and Instagram in the meantime. Missing you! Promise I will be back!

Autumn Fog on Mackinac

Thursday morning was incredibly foggy. I found it lovely and documented my bike ride to the babysitter's before work.
We start at Mission Point Resort, as we live and work here.

The fog is thick:

A carriage is approaching:

Visibility is low, this fog means business!

Lady Liberty's silhouette as she watches the harbor:

Even though I was just below Fort Mackinac, I couldn't make it out.

Can't see very far down the Arnold Line dock:

Even in fog, downtown Mackinac is picturesque!

What skill! I am not this good on a bike yet. I have managed biking one-handed with Phil's garment bag while pulling the girls in the burley, and that was tricksy enough! This gentleman was followed shortly by a second lumber-wielding biker.

Heading up Cadotte:

The golf course:

The Grand Hotel is completely cloaked by fog:

Usually, the Grand Hotel is clearly visible at this point:

I was so focused on snapping pictures, I didn't notice I was still in 2nd and 4th gears uphill until this point.

I stopped for this picture of the Grand Hotel- I love how the flags on the porch gradually disappear into the fog:

View down Cadotte behind me- the bar in the bottom of the picture is the handle of the girls' burley.

I can't help but think of Superman when I pass this antique phone booth!

Some housekeepers on their way to work:

On Market Street:

Downtown Mackinac is still enveloped in fog:

This team of horses pauses:

The Island House opened as a hotel in 1852. When the east and west additions were constructed, extra columns left over from building the Grand Hotel were used- see them on the right?

The Bay View Bed & Breakfast had some marvelous smells of pastry about it! There is a little coffee shop behind the main building that is treasured by many:

St. Anne's Church:

Behind this tree is the Mission Church:

I don't recall ever not being able to see the tower museum from here. It should be just above the birdhouses. Craziness!

Mission Point's Executive Putting Greens (can you see the man and the lawnmower through the fog?)

Some geese on the lawn and the greens. The girls have called them penguins, which I think of whenever I pass geese now and have to smile.

These chairs have a fantastic view of Lake Huron typically, honest!

Mission Point Resort... Well, part of it at least. The fog is hiding things.

The top of the main lobby is hardly visible. Fog is amazing.

And last, but not least, here the cliff referred to as Robinson's Folly ...isn't.
